Impact Stories: CDC best practice user guide features Milwaukee partners

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Office on Smoking and Health has published a new supplement to the Best Practices User Guides, Tobacco Where You Live: Retail Strategies to Promote Health Equity. The guide includes community example of the work the partners in Milwaukee did to identify and address commercial tobacco-related disparities in the retail environment. The work in Milwaukee started as a local pilot and went statewide as part of WRAP (Wisconsin Retail Assessment Project). Through a large collaborative effort between TPCP, local alliances, and their volunteers, thousands of commercial tobacco retailer assessments were completed between 2016-2019. More information about WRAP, including why point of sale matters and educational opportunities related to WRAP can be found here.
